The Spring 2022 season begins on Wednesday February 9th at 6:30, we meet every Wednesday at 6:30 until 9:00 except for spring break, April 11-15. On Saturday morning from 9AM until Noon we offer Swabby, Mariners can earn Swabby credits($16/hour) which can be used to pay for trips, dues, and Mariner clothing. Sailing Classes are offer for beginners on Saturday morning and advanced in the afternoon. The first day of class is February 12 and will be five Saturdays in a Row. We have big boat sailing on are Catalina 38 that is open to youth and adults, so if you ever wanted to sail a large vessel this is a great opportunity to get started. There will be open sail in the afternoon for all Mariners who have completed sailing class for the type of boat they will be sailing.
Winter Cruise will be February 19-21, we depart for Catalina on Saturday morning and return on Monday (Presidents Day, schools are closed). We take are four large boats to Avalon and pick up moorings for the weekend.Â
Pogey Cruise, We have an overnight sailing trip to Newport for the new members to introduce them to the program and have fun.
AMR, Ancient Mariner Regatta is one of the largest Sea Scout Regattas in the United States with over 450 Sea Scouts participating annually. AMR is a competition for Sea Scout ships from the west, including Hawaii. The Mariners elect a ship leader with the title “Boatswain†and subsequent Boatswain Mates, they select teams and prepare for competition, practice is on Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon. We meet at Dana Point Harbor Friday morning, May 27 and take a bus to San Francisco, we spend the afternoon in San Francisco near Warf area and let the Mariners look around and go to China town, at 5:00PM we meet at the bus and head off to the California Maritime Academy where AMR is held. The Mariners and the Adults stay in the Academy dorms and food service is provided. Competition is on Saturday and Sunday, award ceremony in on Monday and we return to Dana Point Harbor
