Mariners Jr.

WELCOME TO THE MARINER JUNIOR PROGRAM

For many years we have received requests that we allow youth younger than 14 years old to join the Mariner program.  Due to insurance constraints this is not possible.  In response to the demand for a program for middle school aged youth we introduced Mariner Juniors.  The Mariner Junior program continues to grow.

The program is open to boys and girls interested in boats of all types.  The program is designed to offer a wide variety of water experiences, from rowing/paddling, Small Boat Sailing and Sailboat Racing (if qualified).

Classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays begin the week following the Mariners’ Information Night.

Wednesday class is from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.  Saturday classes are from 9:00am – 12:00 or 1:00pm – 4:00pm, based on your class placement.

Note:  please drop-off/pick-up youth on time.

In addition, each season Mariner Junior youth will be offered an overnight cruise on the Mariner Vessels (participation optional, reservations and additional fee required).

FEES AND MEMBERSHIP
The Mariner Junior Program is sponsored by the South Coast Sailing Team. Membership is open twice a year; spring season and fall season. An Information Night for the Mariner Juniors is held each season (in September for the fall season and in February for the spring season) at the Orange County Sailing and Events Center, 34451 Ensenada Place, Dana Point, CA 92629.

The Mariner Juniors have a membership fee of $300 per youth, per season, which along with completed and signed paperwork is due by Mariner Junior meeting #1 each season. The necessary paperwork can be obtained on this web site, at the information meeting, or at the first Mariner Junior meeting. Payment of fees and submission of paperwork entitles each youth to our classes, a Mariner Junior T-shirt  and a weekend cruise (optional-additional fee).

Small boat sailing is a great way to learn big boat principles.
